Amazing Grace
Amazing Grace how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me,
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind but now I see.

I was inspired by a sermon that I heard a few weeks ago. The pastor was sharing his teaching on Psalms 66 and was emphasizing all the AWESOME things that God has done as expressed by the Psalmist. God has done amazing things for ME, for US-the corporate church and for EVERYONE.…
Open Home, Open Heart- how to stay organized without really trying!
When your passion is people and relationships of the heart are a top priority, staying organized becomes a necessity but not an urgency. When you open your heart to people and open your home to meet their needs, you realized how much time you spend throughout the week focused on the nonessential things in life.…

Gammie’s Granola
There are very few things more satisfying than a bowl full of homemade granola with fruit and yogurt. I started making granola when I was a newlywed and once I perfected the recipe I just could not go back to the store bought. This recipe is the basic delicious crunchy style granola with many optional add-ins to encourage experimentation and offering the ability to customize your own favorite variety. Now that I am a grandmother -Gammie is my chosen name- it is now called Gammie’s Granola. Have fun experimenting and enjoy!

A Total Pillow Cover
So often those “made for TV” commercials bring a laugh to everyone in our family, but once in awhile, we find a “keeper” that everyone in our family loves! The Total Pillow is probably our favorite. The only drawback to the Total Pillow is that it is not washable. So this week, before my husband and I take off on a long airplane trip, I made a Total Pillow cover.…

In the gospel of John, chapter 4, verses 34-35, Jesus says, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work. Do you not say ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.”
Jesus is referring to a harvest of souls, people who are longing for love, security and a deeply significant purpose and direction for their lives. The disciples think he is speaking of a literal harvest of grain. Jesus often uses word pictures to get us to think outside the box. His words challenge us to find significance in our day to day lives and to use our circumstances to reflect His light and His love in our choices and behaviors.

Having a vegetable garden is fun and rewarding. The challenge is to use up the produce as it fills up the kitchen. So I decided to be creative and see how many of the vegetables from our garden I could use up in one recipe. I combined our garden veggies with a few things added from our local farmer’s market and cooked up a batch of vegetarian pasta sauce. We had it for dinner tonight over quinoa spaghetti noodles and it was delicious. I cooked up some conventional spaghetti as well, so my husband and brother had a choice. They both loved it all.
