Celebrating Life

Birthdays are a time to celebrate life. One day each year is set aside for being the recipient of wonderful messages, cards, gifts, emails and phone calls full of joy, blessings, singing and laughter. Yesterday, I was the one on the receiving end. …

The Importance of Feelings

Getting to do the family wisdom post this week made me think. Family is SO wonderful. But why am I sometimes the worst person around the people I love the most, and the people who love me most? …

A “PERFECT” Gift for the Grammies

Have you ever dreamed of the perfect gift for someone you love? That “PERFECT” gift for someone who has everything and wants nothing. This is often the dilemma of Christmas shopping for grandparents. With the holidays right around the corner, many folks may be starting to think about how to truly express love and appreciation for the people who have made a significant impact in their lives. …

The Here & Now

Medical school is a long process. The first two years are Basic Science studies (two years of sitting in the classroom, learning a lot of long hard words that I can’t even pronounce- Good thing I’m not the one trying to become a doctor HA!). The next two years are Clinical Years or Rotations- the fun hands-on experiences that help you figure out what kind of doctor you want to be. Then, there is Residency, anywhere from two to six years (depending on your practice and specialty) when you are a doctor, but not really. After residency, you may do a Fellowship, which is more training but in a sub-specialty for one to three years. Eventually, you actually become a doctor! …

Never Were There Such Devoted Sisters…

Last weekend, it was our sister, Bethany, and newest brother-in-law’s first anniversary, as some of you may have seen from our newsletter or because you were at the wedding one year ago. In honor of that, I thought I would write my post on something that my sisters, Jess and Rach, and I did at the wedding, and in the process you can get to know us a little better. We were all co-matrons of honor for Bethany, so as tradition would have it, we had the responsibility of the Matron of Honor Speech! We figured that we needed to go out with a bang for the last Weisser getting married off…And we definitely did!298416_10151026193521261_2126863392_n

Delighting in your Children

“Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:4

Delight is defined as giving or having a high degree of pleasure, enjoyment or satisfaction. We are God’s delight and He wants us to delight in Him.

Children are a gift from the Lord. We know this to be true, although while we are raising them we wonder sometimes. The day to day rigors of parenting often times impair our vision and impede our ability to “delight in our children”. …

Our Mom

9-15-12_0229

Our moms teach us so much, they speak into our lives more than we even imagine, and they uplift us.  Even if it isn’t your own mom, hopefully you have a mother figure in your life that speaks wisdom, hope, and encouragement to you. Think of that person in your life and how they have influenced you.

Our mom is seriously supermom. …

Back to School

Happy Labor Day!

For many families and kids, today is the last day of summer. I hope that you have a great family day planned with fun and relaxation.

If you are going back to school, or even if you have already started, I wanted to remind you about that special someone who has been preparing to spend most of their days and much of their time with you: YOUR TEACHER!

While parents have been counting down the days of summer, teachers have been preparing, decorating, cleaning, and planning for the upcoming school year. …

A Fun Way to Practice Colors

My daughter (almost 2) loves practicing her colors. I have been trying to incorporate fun ways to practice during our regular activities and play time. Our favorite color activity right now is water balloons in the bath. Water balloons can be a lot of fun in the bath because you can play with them for a while before they pop.

Here are some different ways to practice:

1. I let Ellie tell me what color balloon she wants. Then I fill it up and toss it in the bath for her.

2. I say a color and ask Ellie to find that balloon.…
