Our Mom

Our moms teach us so much, they speak into our lives more than we even imagine, and they uplift us.  Even if it isn’t your own mom, hopefully you have a mother figure in your life that speaks wisdom, hope, and encouragement to you. Think of that person in your life and how they have influenced you.

Our mom is seriously supermom.  I don’t think there is anything she can’t do or anything she does not know.  She has been not only a mom to us four girls, but an adopted mom to all our friends, and a mother figure to women young and old.  She is filled with wisdom, love, joy, and faith.  She is a prayer warrior. She is a soldier.  She fights on her knees, losing hours of sleep at night praying for us and thinking of others. She pours out herself into our lives so that they can feel loved, cherished, and accepted. She accepts us for who we are. She loves the tough stuff out of us.  If I had to describe my mom in one phrase, it would be relentless love. She doesn’t stop loving.  She doesn’t back down.  It is unconditional. It is messy. And it is real. And I am forever grateful.  I would not be the person I am without our mom.

The book I have been reading, talks about her mom teaching her that the “best is yet to come”.  I think all moms can speak that into our lives. They have life experience. They have perspective. And they want what is best for us.  It is often about perspective. And our moms help us see things differently. We are all on our own life paths.  Moms have a keen awareness of the ups and down of that path.  But they also believe in us and encourage us to keep going.  To keep dreaming. And to keep living. Moms bring life and set us free to be us. Our moms do things to receive nothing in return.  So today, I just wanted to give a shout out to all the wonderful moms out there, and say thank you to the mom God has blessed me with.  I hope one day when I have kids to be anywhere close to the mom you have been to us. Thank you. And keep relentlessly loving and persistently pressing on and continuously being the wonderful person you are. I am forever blessed.

Thank your mom today (or an older influential woman in your life) and tell her why. Bethany Signature60
