The Week of 10,000 Steps

My husband gave me an amazing gift for my last birthday- A Nike Fuel Band. However, since we lived in the Caribbean, we decided that we would order it once we were back in the states for a short summer trip. My husband loves to research things he is excited about, so when he actually had some free time for summer break, he looked at a few Fuel Band alternatives to make sure that he was getting me the best fitness band. That’s when he found the Fitbit Flex! After reading a lot of reviews and watching videos on each bands’ functions, he decided that the Fitbit Flex was the best fit for what I would be using it for! However, by the time it shipped, we were already back in Grenada. So, my parents brought it for me when they came to visit and I have been using it for the first time for the last two weeks!

This band allows you to set a daily goal, showing you when you have reached every fifth of your goal until you have fulfilled it completely! It comes with an app that shows you your daily steps, distance in miles, active minutes, and calories burned. Then, you can manually input your water intake, food intake, and it even tracks your sleep with your times of restlessness and when you awaken through the night. It is water resistant and you can keep friends who have the same band accountable, sharing your goals and maybe even creating some friendly competitions among your Fitbit Flex circle! It has been really fun to play around with all the features these last two weeks. Since my parents have been visiting, I have been off my usual routine. As a result, I have stayed with the goal of 10,000 steps a day that the band was programmed with just to see what kind of numbers I could reach daily for each category- You wouldn’t believe how quickly you can walk 10,000 steps in a day when you are going on hikes, walking around downtown, walking back and forth to campus, etc. It has been really fun each day to fulfill my goal and get different numbers for each category. I am curious to see this next week how my numbers compare when I am back to all my exercise classes and normal schedule without visitors- Sad to say goodbye, but at least I will have my band to keep me busy! Even after two weeks of “playing around” with my band, I would definitely recommend the Fitbit Flex 🙂

Have you tried any type of exercise or fitness band? Which ones? Share your experiences and how you set and fulfill new goals!

Thanks Natalie! We love comments! 🙂 And your blog looks great, too! I’m glad you are liking your Fitbit! And I had never heard of the scale, so I just looked into it a little bit! Seems like an awesome addition to the band! Check out Bre’s comment on this post also to see some of the other apps she uses with her band!

Love the fitbit flex. It is sooo awesome! I am glad you are enjoying yours. I have had mine fore three months and it was the motivation I needed to finally start working on my fitness. I have mine linked to Endomondo (which tracks my exercise) and to MyFitnessPal which tracks my calories and activities from the Fitbit and Endomondo. I love how all three work together to track what I am doing and help me to work towards my fitness goals.
