Praying for Your Husband

The Power of Prayer

“A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value……Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.”(Proverbs 31) As a woman who considers herself blessed to be married to a faithful, loving and well respected man, I am constantly wondering how I can be a more powerful supporter of his extremely demanding and busy life.
THE POWER OF PRAYER!!!
The first year of our marriage, we lived in Washington DC where my husband was a student at George Washington University Medical School. I was in my senior year of college but only had one class left to take before returning to California to graduate in June. So I spent my time working for the Fellowship Foundation-the organization that was in charge of putting on the National Prayer Breakfast. I worked with people who believed in prayer, we started every day of work with prayer and we spent all our work hours promoting the benefits of prayer for leaders of nations all over the world. I was then and continue to be passionate about the power of prayer. I have attended “Mom’s in Touch”/”Mom’s in prayer” groups in every city we have lived in. I have been blessed with amazing women as prayer partners and I have personally experienced incredibly awesome answers to prayers for my life and for others I know and love! I have received amounts of wisdom and insight far greater than I ever expected when I have needed to make big decisions. Prayer has sustained me these past two weeks while I have been dealing with a circumstance out of my control. I will blog more about this at a later date but suffice it to say I somehow injured my back and have been dealing with 13 days of excruciating nerve pain. Prayers have been offered up on my behalf and i am forever grateful.
Praying for my husband was a discipline I established early on in our marriage and it has been an honor and a privilege to be a prayer warrior for him. God has done great things in his life and for our family because of the prayers of many.
Some of the tools I have used over the years that I recommend are:
1. A spiral bound journal to record prayer requests and date answered. IMG_5438
2. An organized system developed by Becky Tirabassi called My Partner Prayer Notebook.IMG_5437There are sections to catalog prayers and answers. I had a page for my husband and one for each of our children. You can organize it in creative styles that meet your personal needs.
3. My favorite prayer notebook ever was one that was made for me out of a composition notebook that my daughters covered with a photograph collage and then secured the collage with tape and covered the entire notebook with contact paper.IMG_5439
4. My favorite book to go through as I pray for my husband is Stormie Omartian’s book called “The Power of a Praying Wife”
5. Here are some fantastic websites for other ideas.

Praying for Your Husband

The most important thing is to start praying for your husband every day if you have not developed that habit, and continue to pray for him if you already are a praying wife. If you are not yet married, start praying for the man that will someday be your husband. Great things happen when we PRAY!

    Kerry-
I didn’t know you were a Becky Tirabassi fan! I used to be her personal assistant! Small world! I love the my partner prayer notebook and totally recommend it for helping to stay focused while praying. Thanks for this encouraging post on prayer–good reminder for all of us! Hugs, Jana
