Living Beyond Yourself

This last Friday, I led my first women’s Bible study! We are doing a study called Living Beyond Yourself by Beth Moore! If you have never done a Beth Moore study, I highly recommend it! She is one passionate lady ready to kick your butt into gear to have your life transformed through God’s Word! For our first meeting, we got to know each other a little better since there were first-timers to the island, returners of the group from last year, and students joining the group for the first time!We watched the introductory session video that broke down the foundation of our study- Living Beyond Yourself. There were so many great points, but I am going to highlight some of my favorites that Beth taught us.

living beyond yourself

1. “Christ in us not only guarantees life in Heaven but also Christ in us grants the astounding invitation to live beyond ourselves on earth.”
—In Christ, we can do what we can’t!—

“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession- to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:13-14
What does it mean for the Holy Spirit to dwell in us? An outpouring of super natural power in your life!— Sounds pretty awesome to me! 🙂
God puts us in situations to live beyond ourselves, and with His strength, we can do just that!—

2. “The filling and subsequent fruit of the Spirit won’t just change my life. It will change my day.”
—Galatians 5:22-25 tells us, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passion and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”—

So often, we forget how mighty God is. Believe in His power and His ability to change you- Your Mood, Your Day, Your Life!

3. “Through the infiltrating power of the Holy Spirit, I can Do things that I Couldn’t, Feel things that I Didn’t, and Know things that I Wouldn’t.”
—This is Abundant Living. In Christ, WE CAN BE DIFFERENT! Different than the people around us, different than the norm, different than our culture, Different—

Philippians 3:12-14 says, “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

God calls us to be different. But, do you think that what God called you to will not cost you anything? Absolutely not! We are called to grow, and press, and strain toward those goals which God has set for us! However, we don’t have to do it alone. When we can come out of our own natural abilities, it is then that we are able to trust and feel the Holy Spirit. When we lay down our life for Christ, that is when we gain True Life! And, He will be with us every step of the way!

As I said before, Beth Moore is very passionate! During this video, Beth challenged us to Exclamation Mark Living, a life that is marked by the fruit of the Spirit, filled with joy and peace and so much more! I was pretty nervous about leading a group, but God has brought such a great group of girls already.  He has shown His faithfulness yet again, and I can’t wait to see what else He teaches us through this study!
