Getting to know Jana and her Wormies

This week Growing Weisser has the awesome privilege of introducing you, our followers, to the extremely talented Jana McAdams.

BETHANY WRITES…..”Jana has been a blessing in mine and my family’s lives ever since meeting her in 2009. I was on staff with Fellowship of Christian Athletes in the San Gabriel Valley in Southern California. Every summer FCA does a big Sports Camp where hundreds of high school athletes come have an amazing experience of sports and Jesus. It was my first year on staff, and I was excited, but also a little nervous for my first camp experience. Big camp, new people, UCLA campus (big deal) and anticipation of pouring in to my group of college athletes (I was their counselor/mentor to be there for them as they lead their group of kids through the camp). Little did I know I was about to meet some of my life long friends at this camp. Jana was one of my huddle leaders as we called them (college-aged leaders for the kids). We instantly clicked, but as I got to know her I saw such an amazing woman of God, a sincere heart, and a genuine desire to serve the Lord. A lot of college aged guys or gals are just living it up in their own world and their own experience. But Jana was already on the path to grow deep and closer with the Lord. That’s the way Jana is, she knows who she is, who the Lord created her to be, and she is able to be right where the Lord has her. I had an amazing time getting to know her that week, but it has been cool to see the Lord continue to show up in and through our lives and our friendship. I continued to spend time with her at camp over frozen yogurt, coffee, or whenever we could coordinate a get together. Then she started coaching track and cross country with my brother in law. She has become an amazing coach and will one day soon be an amazing teacher. Five years later, the best thing I can say I am so thankful and so blessed that she came in to my life. She is a joy to be around, a loyal friend, a driven woman of God, and a constant reminder of the provision and journey of the Lord.
The day I found out she has this little side gig which we are featuring her for, I was just amazed at how much this girl actually does. How does she find the free time to make crafts between school, work, running, church, youth group leader, mission trips, musician (I just found out about that one), and keeping in touch with people? I am not sure. But she does. She does it all. She amazes me at all the talents and abilities she has. God has great plans for her. And I am so glad I get to watch her on her adventure with Christ.”

Here is what Jana had to say about how she met the Weisser girls, “I met Bethany and Bekah in 2009 when I was a Huddle Leader at FCA Camp.  Although I was a Huddle Leader for sprint/distance and Bekah was there for softball, the softball and sprint/distance girls were grouped together with Bethany as our Huddle Leader Coordinator.  I continued to see Bekah and Bethany at the next few FCA camps where we all served on staff, and after moving up to Fullerton, I got to spend more time with them becoming better friends.”

Jana describes herself as, “I am a lover of Jesus, a coach, daughter, sister, and friend.  A native of North County San Diego, I currently reside in Fullerton where I am finishing up my teaching credential in physical education.  I have a passion for running, for cooking, for organizing, for exercise, for creating, for music, for teaching, and for reading.  I continually find myself amazed at God’s work in my life and how He does not allow me have control when I want it so bad.”
