Mason Jars

In the last few years, mason jars have gone from a functional jar used for canning and making homemade jam in or an item to create a more country western look to so much more!! Mason jars, or ball jars as they are also known as, have become the main supply in a variety of Do-It-Yourself (DIY) crafts, as well as a new popular drinking glass in homes and restaurants! They now can create even more of a vintage, retro unique look depending on how they are used!

I knew that I wanted to incorporate mason jars into our wedding. In the beginning stages of planning, I found so many possibilities but finally decided that I wanted them to be the main piece on each of the tables! I created a centerpiece using Quart size jars. I filled the jars with beautiful kiwi branches that we found at the San Francisco Flower Mart. We hung photos from our engagement photo shoots cut out in the shapes of hearts tied to pieces of ribbon (which went with the look of our wedding invitation!), as well as attaching homemade paper flowers with wire to the branches. We also wrapped each jar with a design of twine or ribbon in our wedding colors!

Now that the wedding is over, I plan to use mason jars in our home decor!! If you love the look of mason jars too, try creating your own look in/around/with a mason jar depending on the season or holiday! Have fun experimenting with colors, fabrics, candies, branches and more!!! You can use them as center pieces in the living room, in the kitchen for food storage, in the bathroom for soap or to hold other hygiene products or anywhere else in the house! Mason jars allow so much imagination and originality so be creative and have fun!!
